Three students were recently inducted as members and two teachers as honorary members into Independence High School’s Order of the Patriot.
The Order of the Patriot, an honor organization at the school, recognizes students who have excelled in leadership, service and character. Founded by the school’s first principal, Samuel Haywood, in 1966, the intention was to honor students not only for scholastics, but overall excellence around the school. Teachers and staff members can be selected as honorary members for their outstanding contribution to the school.
Students Terhass Yosief, Grace Craft and Danielle Castelucci were inducted at the Oct. 24 ceremony. Teacher and staff members Jesse Parker and Diane Spence also were inducted as honorary members.
