Hospital nets breast cancer grant

Presbyterian Hospital Matthews was recently awarded a grant from Susan G. Komen for the Cure to provide mammography services and lymphedema care for uninsured and underinsured women at risk for, and battling, breast cancer. The grant was part of a $232,870 grant given to Presbyterian Healthcare, according to a news release from the healthcare system.

The Matthews grant will provide:
• 125 screening mammograms
• 75 diagnostic mammograms
• 2 ultrasound-guided biopsies
• Breast health education for the women in the screening program using Komen materials
• Treatment for six at-risk lymphedema patients
