Writer not surprised by Amendment 1 results

I would like to say that it was no surprise to me that North Carolina voted for (Amendment 1), because this is Bible country, and filled with people who claim to know the right way to live and don’t mind telling others how they should live and conduct their lives. I am a southerner, born and bred.

Many of these same people claim to believe in Jesus Christ, the son of God, and there is no better time than now to ask, “What would Jesus do?” Do these people think that Jesus would approve of hurting the lives of many adults and children, by depriving them of their freedom to live as they so choose?

It is always appalling to me that certain people must always dictate to others how they should conduct their lives, when no one will be hurt except those who will be shut out of benefits in the days ahead, because some people claim to have dibs on what is moral and just, and helped to pass this bigoted and backward amendment. And just for the record, marriage is not always defined as being between a man and a woman, as is evidenced in the Roman Catholic faith regarding priests and nuns. In that religion, marriage is defined as a marriage and union between a man or woman, and God. And I ask, who professes to know if God is a man or a woman?

Just a little food for thought!
