Within the next two weeks, wood trim will start to go up in the front lobby of the under-construction Mint Hill Town Hall, Scott Fandel with Edifice General Contractors said.
Contractors already have started tiling in bathrooms, drywall work is nearly complete and some walls are getting their first coat of primer. All windows should be installed by next week and the copper installation for the building’s cupola dome on top is complete, Fandel said.
The two-story, 20,000-square-foot building at 4430 Mint Hill Village Lane in the Mint Hill Village is still on target to be complete by mid-July, he said.
After town officials move into the new building, work will begin to overhaul the current town hall at 7151 Matthews-Mint Hill Road. Town commissioners approved a pre-construction services agreement with Edifice Thursday, May 10. The town pays $5,800 per month in rent for the police department’s current 5,520-square-foot space at 7200 Matthews-Mint Hill Road.
