What’s closed for Memorial Day?

The Memorial Day holiday Monday, May 28, means some public buildings will be closed and services will be unavailable.

In Matthews, town hall, the Matthews Community Center and the Crews Recreation Center all will be closed Monday. The regularly scheduled May 28 town board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 29. Garbage and recycling will operate on a regular schedule.

Mint Hill town hall and the administrative office of the Mint Hill Police Department will be closed Monday. Garbage and recycling will operate on a regular schedule.

Mecklenburg County government offices and agencies will be closed on Monday. The closure includes all units of the Department of Social Services, Tax Office, Elections Office, Register of Deeds, Land Use and Environmental Services, Health Department, Park and Recreation administrative offices and all Recreation Centers, Solid Waste administrative offices and facilities, except Compost Central, which will be open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Main Library and all library branches will be closed on Monday. 

The Mecklenburg County Substance Abuse Center is open 24 h ours a day, seven days a week.

The Department of Social Services Care Line (704-336-2773) will be open to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect of children, the elderly or disabled adults.

CharMeck 3-1-1 will be open.
