Hope Christian plans community festival
Hope Christian Church in Mint Hill is gearing up for a community festival June 16.
The event will include live music from area Christian bands, arts and crafts vendors, activities for children and barbecue. It runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the parking lot of the McEwen Shopping Center at the corner of Lawyers Road and N.C. 51.

Arlington Baptist needs food donations
The congregation at Arlington Baptist Church is collecting food throughout June for the Loaves & Fishes food pantry.
The church needs donations of non-perishable items. Donations can be brought to the church at 9801 Arlington Road, Mint Hill.

Matthews UMC getting ‘awestruck’
Matthews United Methodist Church will host an evening of prayer June 2 for the community.
Awestruck is an extended time of praise and worship that includes music, meditation, creativity and prayer. The event, starting at 7 p.m., is aimed at allowing people a chance to take a break from their busy schedules to focus on the role of God in their lives.
Following the praise session, people can come together for ice cream.
Awestruck is at the church, 801 S. Trade St., Matthews.

St. Luke hosts blood drive
The congregation at St. Luke Catholic Church in Mint Hill will hold a blood drive June 9.
The church has been holding sign ups for the event on the weekends, but people can call 704-882-4120 to make an appointment. Appointments are available between 7 a.m. to noon.
St. Luke is located at 13700 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill.
