Legion honors Eagle Scouts

American Legion Post 235 in Matthews recently presented The American Legion Citizenship Medal and Certificate to Christopher Cannon of Troop 159 at his Eagle Court of Honor.

Chris, the son of Dan and Roberta Cannon, is a senior at Butler High School in Matthews where he is a member of the Army JROTC and serves as the school’s JROTC battalion commander. He has received a three-year Army ROTC scholarship and will be attending North Georgia College & State University in the fall.

Post 235 has presented Citizenship Medals to 15 area Eagle Scouts in the past year.

The Eagle Scouts honored are:
• Troop 39: Edmond Miramontes, William Turner, Charles Santiago, Andrew Bernard, Kevin Cammarn, Bradley Schwartz, Triston Stegall, Tyler Peterson, David Foresman, Alex Albl, Stephen Glass and Christopher Williams.
• Troop 140: Garrett Rhyne
• Troop 144: Jeffrey Coffman
• Troop 159: Christopher Cannon
