New parks and facilities signs are coming to Matthews.
Town commissioners voted Monday, July 23, to approve the lowest bidder, SignFab, to make and install nine new parks and facilities signs at the Community Garden, Stumptown, Windsor, Baucom, Sardis and Squirrel Lake parks; Fire & EMS station 1 on South Trade Street; the Crews Center; and Public Works.
The town will use $94,094 of its tourism funds to pay for the signs, which should be installed by the end of the year. Town Manager Hazen Blodgett said the signs wouldn’t be ready in time for the Matthews Alive! Festival in September.
Tourism revenue comes from beverage and prepared food taxes.
