Charlotte friends Alma Julian and Amy Castro have partnered to open a spa just for kids in downtown Matthews.
Cutie Patootie Kids Spa, 116 W. John St., suite A, opened Tuesday, Aug. 14 and offers manicures, pedicures, facials, hair styling and more just for girly girls. But there’s no nail filing, cutting or harsh chemicals used here – it’s all kid-friendly and just for fun, owners say. Their “cupcake facial” is flavored frosting and sprinkles.
“You can eat this facial,” said Castro, a professional make-up artist and hair stylist who also can place feathers or colored tinsel in her young customers’ hair. The spa is inspired – and approved – by Julian’s daughter Alexa, 5, and Castro’s daughter, Melody, 2, both of which are “really girly girls,” Julian said.
A grand opening will be held Saturday, Aug. 18 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. with giveaways, raffle prizes and free glitter tattoos for all visitors. All services Aug. 18 will be buy one, get one 50 percent off.
