Officials with Edifice General Contractors hope to hand over the keys to the new two-story, 20,000-square-foot Mint Hill Town Hall this week. Matthews-Mint Hill Weekly visited the nearly-completed building Tuesday, Aug. 14 to find workers putting final coats of paint on outside hand railings, adding caulking around roof gutters and marking nicks and scratches in the walls that need a painter’s quick touch. Final cleaning is in full-swing to welcome town officials and the public into their new home at 4430 Mint Hill Village Lane.
A move-in date hasn’t been set.
After town officials move into the new building, work will begin to overhaul the current town hall at 7151 Matthews-Mint Hill Road. Town commissioners approved a pre-construction services agreement with Edifice in May. The town pays $5,800 per month in rent for the police department’s current 5,520-square-foot space at 7200 Matthews-Mint Hill Road.
