Big Al’s Pub & Pizzeria, 9242 Albemarle Road – 90.5 (includes two education credits). Violations included: Food residue on slicer and utensils stored as clean; employee used cloth to wipe hands and cutting board; cold food not stored at safe temperature (food discarded and cooler to be fixed).
This week’s high score
Carmel Christian School, 1145 Pineville-Matthews Road – 101 (includes two education credits).
Chile Verde, 3036 Weddington Road, suite 300 (reinspection) –dishwasher now operating properly.
Pepero Oriental Foods, 10920 Monroe Road – 95.
Tealightful Tearoom, 7201 Matthews-Mint Hill Road – 98.

About the grades
Restaurants are given grades of A for scoring at least 90 percent, B for 80 to 89 percent and C for 70 to 79 percent. The state revokes permits for restaurants that score below 70 percent. Restaurants are eligible for two bonus points if an employee has completed a food service sanitation program within three years.
