Matthews or Mint Hill residents interested in volunteering with next year’s Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society should plan to attend an informational meeting Aug. 14.
The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in conference room C-D at Presbyterian Hospital Matthews, 1500 Matthews Township Pkwy. Volunteers are needed to plan the event and help it grow, including recruiting local cancer survivors and new teams and solicit sponsorships.
This year’s Matthews-Mint Hill Relay for Life raised $31,856, surpassing the 2012 goal by almost $2,000. About 150 people came to Mint Hill’s Park on Fairview to support the 317-participant event.
