The Matthews-born The Red Radish Catering Company is back in town – and has grown.
The company, which opened in Matthews in 2004 and moved to Charlotte in 2006, is now back in Matthews at 1031 Matthews-Mint Hill Road with a new venture: Savour: A Meeting and Event Venue. Business owners Mike and Gale Duarte of Waxhaw bought the former Dino’s restaurant space for $750,000 in December 2011, according to online county records, and just recently welcomed their first guests to Savour. The building has three separate event areas: the main dining room holds about 160 people, about 65 people in the “Hearth Room” featuring a working fireplace and about 40 people in the “Radish Room” used for corporate lunches. Red Radish continues its corporate lunch catering events, now working out of the Matthews location.
The opening of Savour was a natural extension for the company, owner Mike Duarte said. Matthews Alive! will use the venue for its annual volunteer gala before the festival.
“It’s very exciting for us being here,” he said. “We want to give people in this area a place to have a gathering.”
