Sardis Park gets facelift
When Sardis Park opens Saturday, Nov. 10 in Matthews, visitors will find new playground equipment and benches ready for use.
Crews were putting the final touches on the new items this week, which include installing new playground equipment designed for kids ages 5 to 12. The equipment includes a rock climbing wall, monkey bars and a slide.
The town budgeted $42,000 for the park improvements, according to its Capital Improvement Plan. Other town parks are scheduled to receive similar renovations in the next two fiscal years, according to the plan, for a three-year budget total of $92,000.
Sardis Park is located at 9650 Sardis Road in Matthews.
Say goodbye to Beth Hamrick
Area residents are invited to attend a retirement reception for Mint Hill Town Clerk Beth Hamrick who will retire Nov. 30.
The reception will be Wednesday, Nov.14 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the town hall, 4430 Mint Hill Village Lane. Light refreshments will be served.
Hamrick has been a town employee for 32 years.
Matthews to host Business Summit
Area business owners and employees are invited to attend the fall Town of Matthews Business Summit, presented by the town’s Economic Development Advisory Committee.
The free event will be held on Friday, Nov. 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Matthews Town Hall, 232 Matthews Station St. Free lunch will be available with advanced registration.
During the event, Matthews Mayor Jim Taylor will provide an update on the town’s projects and Jim Dunn, a sales management professional, will be the guest speaker
