The Apple Creek subdivision in Mint Hill will be hosting its fourth annual Neighborhood Noel from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 22 – and you’re invited!
The event at 10204 Ole Roam Ct. includes thousands of lights, live music, free hot cocoa, candy and more. The subdivision is located off Lawyers Road, adjacent to Farmwood.
“Everyone is invited,” said Jeff Andler, coordinator of the JAMin Christmas Singers and organizer of the event. “It is a family-friendly atmosphere.”
Andler said the 2011 event drew more than 500 guests – they know because that’s how many cups of hot chocolate was served.
Andler said the event features a lot of family fun for guests.
“We set up a small stage … where there is a dazzling display of Christmas lights,” he said. “Live Christmas music is provided by a 10-voice singing team, the JAMin Christmas Singers. Selections are a wide variety of secular and sacred, including a tune from the movie ‘Home Alone 2,’ The Charlie Brown Christmas Special, a lively salsa setting of the old carol Pat-A-Pan and the Hallelujah chorus from Handel’s Messiah.”
Parking is along the street and visitors are asked to “not block the flow of traffic,” he said.
The event began in 2009, when two neighbors – Andler and Whitey Stevens, who both have decorated extensively for the Christmas season for more than 20 years – thought of providing music in addition to the light displays that already draw many visitors, Andler said.
“The JAMin Singers were already active during the Christmas season each year and added this event to their 2009 itinerary,” Andler said. “It has become our favorite and probably most popular Christmas event. We welcome anyone who would like to visit.”
