MATTHEWS – The Matthews Police Department announced its 2017 Employees of the Year.
Staff nominate and vote for three categories: sworn, civilian and citizen volunteer.
- Corporal Lance Paugh (patrol division) won Sworn Employee of the Year for his work ethic, attitude and willingness to help whenever possible. He assists with weekly car seat clinics, picks up extra shifts and helps with events. In addition to being a special response team member, Paugh organized the department’s Honor Guard Unit.
- Tracey Combel (IT specialist) won Civilian Employee of the Year for being responsive to the needs of everyone in the department. He is always looking at ways to make the department more technologically efficient with his attentiveness and great attitude.
- Mike Pfeilschifter (citizen volunteer) won Citizen Volunteer of the Year for helping the citizen volunteer program grow. He has been involved for several years with the Safe Kids Car Seat program, insuring each installation is documented. He also volunteers at town events and bikes the greenway regularly.
