Note: Records are through Dec. 12
1. Ardrey Kell (8-1)
Previous Week: No. 1
Ardrey Kell kicked off December with a 42-point win against Providence and 39-point win over West Mecklenburg. The Knights have two tough games before winter break against South Meck on Dec. 12 (after deadline) and Harding University on Dec. 15.
2. South Meck (8-1)
Previous Week: No. 2
The Sabres have a chance of topping next week’s Super 7 with a win over Ardrey Kell on Dec. 12. Four of the past five games have been blowouts of 25 points or more.
3. Providence Day (7-4)
Previous Week: No. 3
The record is deceptive because you have to consider the team’s strength of schedule. As high as Butler is on our Super 7, Providence Day lost to three of the state’s top teams.
4. Butler (3-2)
Previous Week: No. 4
Sophomore Michela Lane is leading the charge for the Bulldogs this season with a double-double (16 points and 11.8 rebounds) per game. Butler will have a tough game at Independence on Dec. 15.
5. Charlotte Catholic (4-1)
Previous Week: No. 6
Seems like the Cougars have been taking the basketball equivalent of AP exams over a span of eight games with matchups against the likes of Parkwood, Charlotte Latin and Providence Day.
6. Independence (6-3)
Previous Week: No. 7
Freshman Braylyn Milton has made an immediate impact for the Patriots, averaging 13.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.4 steals and 4.2 assists per game. Their losses have been to good teams (most recently Hickory Ridge) but they have to maintain poise to prevent the games from becoming blowouts.
7. Charlotte Latin (4-3)
Previous Week: No. 5
The Hawks lost two games at home heading into its clash with Christ the King. The schedule gets tougher with a visit to Charlotte Catholic and then a holiday tournament in Tennessee over the break.
