MINT HILL – Rocky River junior Jirah Sidberry was a double winner at the Girls’ Class 4A Indoor Track Championships last weekend as the Ravens were edged 60-56 by South East Raleigh for the state championship.
Sidberry won the long jump by a foot with a winning leap of 18-08.50. Sidberry then edged out teammate Kenya Livingston to win the triple jump with a jump of 39-08.00. Livingston had a jump of 39-05.50. Livingston also finished second in the high jump with a 5-06.00. Addie Renner of Myers Park was third in the high jump with a 5-06.00.
The Rocky River girls also racked up points with a second-place finish in the 4×200 relay as Sidberry, Lauren Powell, Ty-lisha Kimble and Mariah Atwater finished in 1:44.71.
Providence High finished second in the 4×400 girls relay as Nimeesha Coleman, Ella Mainwaring Foster, Zaria Dunlap and Ariana Rivera finished with a 4:02.30.
Myers Park’s Cora Cooke (3:04.46) finished second in the 1,000-meter run while Caroline Backus (21.03) of Independence took second in the 55-meter wheelchair dash.
In the boys’ meet, Ardrey Kell’s Josh Brockman won the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 7.48. Christopher Alexander of Rocky River won the triple jump with a 47-09.50.
Providence’s Seth Rabinowitz finished second in the pole vault with a 14-06.00.
